I became disenchanted with most English translations of the Quran and I’ve been through probably more than a dozen except for two versions but I fell in love with the Quran after I began to appreciate and understand its exquisite beauty and language.

I now have a greater albeit still minuscule love of the Quran and of the sahaba that helped to preserve it, and when I read the ahadeeth about memorizing the Quran, I get chills.

Al-Tirmidhi (2914) and Abu Dawood (1464) narrated from Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “It will be said to the companion of the Qur’aan: Recite and rise in status, recite as you used to recite in the world, for your status will be at the last verse that you recite.”

Al-Bukhaari (4937) narrated from Aa’ishah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The likeness of the one who reads Qur’aan and memorizes it is that he is with the righteous honourable scribes. The likeness of the one who reads it and tries hard to memorize it even though it is difficult for him, he will have two rewards.”

Those that love the Quran, may appreciate this site that contains many of the different authentically narrated qira’aat of the Quran. More than 95% of the Muslim world recites the Quran according to Hafs an Aasem but there are 19 other ways exactly preserved as well.

How little it is that we truly appreciate the differences between us as Muslims perhaps we can enjoy these differences in recitation.

One question, I haven’t been able to yet find an answer for is if it would be incorrect to recite in more than one qira’aah in a single salaah, if you know, let me know in sha Allah.

Abu Musa al-Ash’aree said that the Prophet sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam said:

The Quran is either an evidence for you, or against you. [Muslim]

An orientalist said of the Quran:

Indeed, it has sweetness and it is coated with sweetness. The top of it is fruitful and the bottom of it is fruitful. There is nothing that can be higher than it.

Can you please respond to my email?

Asalamu alaykum,

If you did not have the knowledge to back up this statement then you should not have said it in the first place. I do not intend to do the research for you on this issue perhaps someone else will feel inclined to do it.

There is no doubt that the Quran is a miracle and among the most amazing signs of Allah and a proof of the truthfulness of the Prophet sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam. In its unique and inimitable language, style, content, and continued preservation in its original langauge and form. Continue reading “I’jaaz of the Quran”
