Last week, my mother opened up the garage door in order to bring out her Christmas lights and displays for the front yard. There’s a tree of lights and a lighted Rudolph and sleigh bit as well.
After she brought out all of the equipment and decorations, she pressed the button to close the garage door but it refused to go back down and close. She had to call a repairman to come and fix it.
My thoughts: It’s a sign that Allah does not look favorably upon shirk and the display needs to come down and go back inside the garage especially since this is also the house of a mumina.
When I was younger, years before I even became interested in Islam, my father asked our handyman to put up our Christmas tree and decorate it in the family room. We had all outgrown the fun and excitement of putting up the tree, decorating it, and wrapping presents so I was annoyed by it because I felt that it was taking up too much space in the room.
So one day after school I decided to take it down and put it back in the box. When my dad came home, he was very upset but we didn’t put the tree back up that year.
