PGMA Blood Drive

PGMA Blood DriveOur sister Shazia, has responded to the challenge of convincing me to try once more to give blood so if I am in town on the weekend of July 7th, in sha Allah I will head over to the Prince George’s Muslim Association (PGMA) with some sisters to donate blood.

I intend to sign up as many people as I can so join us if you can make it to Lanham, Maryland on Saturday, July 7th between the hours of 9AM-2PM.

And don’t think you will not be rewarded for your efforts, what an amazing thought that some of your excess blood may be used to save a life or multiple lives, think of the ajr in that.

Donors at the PGMA Blood Drive will be given a free T-shirt, a coupon for a free meal at Chick Fil-A, and other delicious snacks will be available. I can say that at the last blood drive I attended even though I was rejected the snacks were great.

So now, I have to get to work on trying to boost the level of iron in my blood.

I just wanted to stop by and give an update on how things went with the blood drive. The message below was sent in an E-mail from Brother Maher who spearheaded the whole blood drive. Pay close attention to the number of people who were turned away because of low iron in the blood. Insha Allah we can use this as a reminder that we need to eat better.

Alhamdolliah the blood drive went well, with satisfactory outcomes. The brother who was in charge from the red cross (who was a Muslim) expressed his admiration to see a mosque stepping forward and representing islam in a positive fashion. Total of 34 people from the pgma as well as those who walked in from the community signed to give blood. out of those 18 (mostly sisters from the pgma) were denied as due to their low iron, and as a result 13 people donated. the outcomes were pleasing to the red cross rep. Alhamodolliah, their interaction with the community members was positive, the red cross reps asked for copies of the quran, and picked up some of the islamic literature that we left outside the rooms.

May Allah reward everyone who fulfilled the pgma duty towards the community and allowed this dawa program to be a success.

    Maher
