Panthers, Tigers, and Leopards Oh My

A few years ago, I decided to go out on a limb and purchase a Mac Powerbook G4. I had not used Macs regularly since I was a kid in the 1980’s.

I liked the security, style, unique intergration of software programs, the ability of Mac to open files created on Windows, and the overall innovation of of the operating system.

I still have a desktop Windows PC which I want to upgrade next year. But am wondering whether or not to buy a windows based laptop running the much-delayed Vista platform or to buy an iMac.

The iMac is awesome because it integrates the entire computer into the monitor casing or the Mac Mini which downsizes the tower to about the size of a book.

Mac now runs on Intel-based processors so a user can choose whether or not to run Windows XP or the Mac OS X (that symbol is a “ten” not an “x”) Tiger edition.

Pros of Mac:

Leopard Sneak Peek
Innovation

Security

Style

Can runs Windows Platform

Microsoft Office designed for Mac is better than the one for XP

Time Machine, and Spaces (due in Leopard update of Mac OS X)

Dashboard Widgets and Spotlight Search features improved

Might Mouse both wireless and usb versions allow for virtual “right click” and “left click”.

I don’t like the new Mac Ads but they do a more through list of reasons why someone should “Get a Mac” here.

Some cons of Mac:

Cannot open .exe files although most major software companies offer Windows and Mac versions of software.

Tiger OS X has sometimes has issues rendering Arabic script.
