Aaron McGruder creator of widely popular and oft-controversial “The Boondocks” comicstrip announced in March of this year that he was taking a six month sabbatical. Now, comes word that “The Boondocks” hiatus may continue on indefinately.
The strip made its debut in 1997 in the University of Maryland’s student newspaper, the Diamondback. When it went national in 1999, it was something of an instant hit — and controversy-maker — with its radical approach to politics and social satire that firmly divided readers into “love it” or “hate it” camps.
Each day over the next month or so, we will be running some of our favorite “The Boondocks” moments here on Muslim Apple.
Really? How very cool. It’s one of my favorite strips… thanks!
