I saw the above statement on bumper sticker on a Toyota Prius, the other day, as I was heading to school.

a Jewish carpenter?

I’ve always found this bumper sticker and that claim to be rather disconcerting. While, I was going to delve into my feelings on why this is so, I found that someone has already done it.

Reverend Ken Collins debunks the Jesus was a carpenter myth using scriptural evidences from the Bible to say it is more likely that Jesus was a rabbi.

I don’t remember this idea as Jesus being Jewish or being a carpenter ever really being emphasized in Sunday school, Bible camp, or church in my youth.

We seek Allah’s protection from that and ask Him to release every unjustly detained captive and to reunite them with their families. Ameen.

There was a minibus, which I had never seen before parked at the masjid one day last week during the taraweeh that caught my attention and some interesting looks from other masjid attendees.

The side panel on the bus read: The Sunnah – On the Road Tour

The back door read: Let the Sunnah Go Forth And Don’t Stop It.

The license plate read: NO BIDA

There was also an 800 number and a website address on the bus. I didn’t know it then but it seems this statement about letting the sunnah go forth and not stopping it with opinions is a popular catchphrase amongst some groups. It’s sounds kind of silly to me and I had a couple of good laughs when I saw it.

I have seen this bumper sticker on a number of cars while driving and I always assume that the owner of the vehicle is Christian and that I wish I could have a conversation with them about it. At first, I was mildly offended but then it occurred to me one day that I agree with the message of the bumper sticker.

A Muslim must know, love, and accept Jesus alayhis salaam in order to be fully considered a Muslim. And that in knowing and following the true message of Jesus alayhis salaam is true peace and contentment found.
